I am very excited to announce that weed treatment will begin on Flannagan Pond next week. The first treatment will be on Wednesday, July 13th. The second treatment will be the following week, July 21st.
Lycott Environmental has prepared a flyer specifically for Flannagan Pond that explains how the herbicide affects the various invasive plants. They have also provided information about Sonar and Reward , the chemicals that will be used to eradicate the invasive weed species. The Conservation Commission will be posting notices around all the ponds that are being treated, Sandy Pond, Flannagan Pond and Pine Meadow. Those notices will provide dates and information regarding fishing, irrigation, etc. I’ll supply all that detail in another post in a day or two.
So why is there a photo of Roger McGuinn associated with this blogpost? Two reasons: 1) Recently I was told I always post ugly dreary pictures of weeds, so I opted for McGuinn’s picture. The Byrds’ music was always so bright and encouraging with that old Rickenbacker 12-string guitar and McGuinn’s sweet vocals, one cannot help but be cheerful, and 2) July 13th, the first day of weed treatment is Roger McGuinn’s birthday.
